Resilience refers to the ability of a family unit to withstand problems and difficulties that the family may experience. All families experience problems eg. death, unemployment, poor health, food shortage, drugs, as well as conflict and fighting between family members. Some families might even have to deal with sexual abuse, murder and imprisonment. A resilient family is able to come together during good times, as well as bad times, to support and help each other so that the family as a group is still able to recover from problems. And function as a supportive group.
